Diagnostic Technologies
A specialized camera that captures the image of the inside of your eye. It enables us to better diagnose, and monitor for diseases in the retina from diabetes, high blood pressure and precancerous freckles in the retina.
This technology allows our doctors to look below the surface of your retina for early warning signs of leading causes of vision loss including macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic macula edema, before they affect your vision. We are one of the few clinics in Ontario offering OCT with angiography capabilities. This allows for the visualization of your retina blood flow non-invasively to plan and manage eye diseases to the next level.
This equipment measures how well the optic nerve is functioning and how well the signal your eye receives is transferred to the brain. This test can help in the diagnosis of glaucoma and tumours that interferes the eye-brain pathway. By measuring the extent of one's peripheral vision, it can also be used to determine whether an individual meets the Ministry of Transportation Standard for Driving.
This instrument creates a precise visual map of your cornea (the front surface of your eye). The measurements are then used in the proper fitting of custom contact lenses and the diagnosis and monitoring of cornea conditions such as keratoconus.
Meibographer and
Advanced Dry Eye Analysis
Diagnostic testing that tests for tear film stability, break-up pattern, tear volume and ocular surface staining allows our doctor to objectively assess dry eye syndrome. Meibomina gland dysfunction plays a significant role in evapourative dry eye. Meibography allows the doctor to observe the architecture of your meibomian glands in vivo.
The corneal epithelium is approximately 55 microns (i.e. 55 millionth of a meter) in thickness. Measurement of corneal epithelial thickness can help in the early diagnosis of corneal disorders especially corneal ectasia which has been one of the leading challenges in planning refractive surgery such as LASIK and PRK
